Let’s Give the Disabled the Opportunities They Deserve

We all deserve opportunities at employment that sustain us and bring us joy. This is just one of the many reasons that our owner, Larry Zogby, has been a passionate supporter of meaningful job opportunities for disabled people.

Although opportunities to employ people with disabilities is a yearlong effort at RDS, Larry always makes it a point to double down on his efforts this time of year because October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). 

Recently, Larry invited officials from Acces-VR (Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation) NYC and The Long Island City Partnership to RDS for a lunch and learn. He wanted to get answers to questions such as:

• How can we create more job opportunities for disabled people at RDS?
• How can RDS help connect Acces-VR to other for-profit companies in the area?
• What does Acces-VR need from the local business community to achieve greater job placement success?

“It was a very productive afternoon,” Zogby said. “I learned how I can connect Acces-VR to my community in ways that will make an impact. I learned how to assist them and how to continue to help make a difference.”

We Love Getting ‘LinkedIn’ & Collaborating With Others

At RDS, we love the relationships we’ve built through LinkedIn. Recently, we were able to help our friends at Gateway Optimum Transportation/Gateway Crate and Freight in Arizona deliver a valuable electronic microscope from The Grand Canyon State to New York City for a biomedical firm.

Gateway had picked up, packed, crated and shipped the microscope to NYC but needed RDS’ help delivering it to an inside location on Fifth Avenue.

Gateway owner Steven Tittle explained it this way: “Although Gateway has delivered with our own assets to many locations in downtown New York, at this time an inside delivery by a partner (was) a better fit for our customer. I turned to Larry Zogby of RDS Same Day Delivery, whose crews know the challenges of delivering lift gate, inside delivery of freight and packages in downtown New York.”

The team at RDS was more than happy to help. We received the item, warehoused it, scheduled the appointment and delivered this precious cargo seamlessly and successfully.
